About the Resort

Quinta Vale do Homem, of secular origin, was an old farming farm, consisting of the Mother House, the main residence, the House of Eira, and several fields where cereals such as corn and rye were cultivated and with a large extension of vineyards. The Quinta was refurbished, opening to the public as a Rural Tourism Farm in June 2003. The restorations were carefully done in order to provide the comfort of today and all the areas were decorated with the farm’s implements keeping the moth. The name of the farm is due to its location near the river Homem valley.

Tradition can be found everywhere on the QVH as all the farm tools have been recovered. Upon arrival at QVH, customers are accompanied on a visit where the various implements are explained (ox-carts, seeder, grid, sulfate, …). The winepresses are shown still intact as well as the barrels and the alembic and the wine making is described. Tradition has it that the grapes were trodden by men barefoot and trousers rolled up to their knees forming a cord along the entire width of the press. Inside the main house you will find some traditional utensils such as shallow, pitchers, watering cans, scythes, saws, sewing machine and mallet, described in Portuguese and English.

In the Main-House you will find the reception, open from 8am to 11pm, the living room, rooms equipped with private bathroom, air conditioning, mini-bar, LCD TV with more than 60 channels, the breakfast room and also a games room with a pool, a games table (checkers, chess, cards, dominoes, among others).

The Casa da Eira has standard double-rooms and special-rooms as well as the Eira Kitchen which is fully equipped with crockery, cutlery, pots, microwave, fridge, cooker, dishwasher and TV, available for clients to use under request.

In July 2012, 3 cottages were inaugurated in a space attached to QVH and a game room reserved for users of these cottages.

Regarding the typology of the houses, Casa da Sequeira is a T2 type, with two floors and has a privileged view over the gardens, while the Casa do Malhadouro is a one-bedroom residence. The third house is the Casa das Alfaias, a two-storey house.

These cottages have all the comfort conditions (air conditioning, fireplace with stove, LCD televisions), WiFi, without losing the rustic moth that characterizes QVH.
